Head coach Jung Jae-hoon picked ‘defense’ as the key to victory in the Lee Sang-hun tournament held in four years.
The Korea-Japan University Basketball Tournament will be held for the first time in 4 years since 2019. Hanyang University coach Jung Jae-hoon will lead the team, and Myongji University coach Kim Tae-jin and Korea University coach Kim Tae-hong will add strength. The Lee Sang-bae competition will be held at Yonsei University for three days from May 19th to 21st.
As for the university selection, from the 8th, with more than a month left before the tournament, a 24-member preliminary list was formed and joint training was held every weekend at the Hanyang University Gymnasium. And from the 29th, the final list of 12 people will be selected and the final tempering will begin.
The college selection team will check their tactics through practice games from the 5th to the 7th of next month, and from the 16th, they plan to raise their organizational skills through camps.
Head coach Jung Jae-hoon said, “We made a 24-member roster and practiced about five times. We competed for each position and selected the roster after discussion with the coaching staff. After leaving the school year, we selected through practice training and prepared well so that we could win. I will,” he promised.
This Lee Sang-baek college selection basketball tournament is held for the first time in four years, and it is a confrontation of fate between Korea and Japan, where they fight with their pride. The Japanese university selection team has been improving their organizational skills through two training camps from two months ago. ㅋㅋㅋ벳
Coach Jeong said, “I heard that the opposing team is already training together through camp training. We can’t go that far because we are having a season, but we are making the most of our time and training together.”
Coach Jeong continued, “It is known that our opponents include mixed-race players, so we will prepare well accordingly. Previously, Japanese basketball was based on organizational skills, but recently the players’ individual skills and physical skills have improved. So, focus on defense. I’m leaving,” he said.
As coach Chung said, in training on the 29th, the college selection team checked various regional defenses and defensive rotations. As each of them came from different teams, they showed a creaking appearance at first, but as they were the best players in the university, they quickly adapted.
When asked if there are any players expected in this selection team, coach Jeong said, “All players have good abilities, but Park Moo-bin, Moon Jeong-hyun, and Yu-gi-sang, who are called the best college players in their senior year, stand out. Their basic skills are also exceptional.
” Coach Jeong said, “Before the first training session, there were worries about ‘what if the players don’t work hard’, but it was a serious atmosphere where all the players participated and worked hard. I feel very sorry for not being able to contact everyone separately. However, there will be an opportunity later.”
